PHILUMENE

PHILUMENE
PHILUMENE
pro Aristide moritur. Narrat enim hic, qui Hadriani Imperatoris fere aequalis fuit, in Sacrarum quinta, se, cum periculose agrotaret, oraculô monitum, Ὅτι ἡ Φιλουμένη ψυχὴν ἀντὶ ψυχῆς καὶ σῶμα ἀντὶ σώματος ἀντέδωκε τὰ ἀυτῆς ἀντὶ τῶ ἐμῶν, Philumenam animam pro anima, corpus pro corpore, sua pro meis, permutationis locô dedisse. Moritur ergo Philumene, convalescit Aristides. Erat haec filia Callitychae nutricis quondam Aristidis vel collactaneae: nam editi libri modo τροφὸν, modeo σύντροφον, nominant. Sed et iam ante Philumenae frater Hermeas, pro eodem Aristide gravissime laborante, mortem visus obisse, ut ipse narrat. Veterum nempe persuasio, ut Casaubonus ostendit ad quartum Suetonii, haec fuit, posse alicuius produci fata, si eius vicem subiret alter, velut hostia succidanea: qua de re diximus supra voce Fata. Idem lusciniae nomen, cuius epitaphium habes supra, voce Luscinia.
